Tomorrow is the big day: the return of football's greatest entertainers, the Premier League. The start of a new season brings optimism and adrenaline on and off the field: newly promoted teams and fans will be hoping that their club can handle the pressure, England's elite clubs will want to showcase their talents around Europe, and underdog clubs will want to shock the league with dazzling football. Without further a do, here are my Premier League predictions for the upcoming season:
20. Ipswich Town
Ipswich is the fairytale team of the season after a memorable rise to the top division just one year on from earning promotion to the Championship. Ipswich reminds me of Luton Town: a true underdog that worked their way up to the top division through passion without too much talent on the pitch. I will say that Ipswich’s best chance of staying up will be their manager Kieren McKenna who has gained media attention with his unique style of play, he even found himself at the top of Manchester United and Chelsea managerial targets this summer. I believe that passion continues to be one of the most powerful tools in a footballing world recently plagued by the rich, but in the case of Ipswich Town, quality will prevail.
19. Nottingham Forest
I am a huge fan of Nottingham Forest, when they were promoted back in 2022 I could not be more happy. During their two years in the Premier League, I believe that Forest is lucky to still be in England’s top flight. The team is exciting and the fans have a big heart, but in terms of results on the pitch, the squad is full of players who were purchased by the club in the last two years, what that team is missing are players who fought to bring the club up to the Premier League a few years ago. With Steve Cooper gone, that Forest team is not the same and I think this season will be their time to go back down.
18. Southampton
Southampton only spent one season down in the championship before earning their spot back at the top. Manager Russell Martin deserves credit for the Saint’s impressive season; to come into the side and in one year bring them back up shows character. However, the Championship, while it has a unique competitivty to it does not compare to the challenge of staying in the Premier League. Looking at their squad, the players that relegated them last time are seemingly still at the club, and with limited spending this summer, I do not see Southampton staying for very long.
17. Everton

For years I have predicted Everton to go down, but not this time. I would not be surprised to see them struggle after selling star midfielder Amadou Onana with no replacement along with the potential of losing defender Jarrod Braithewaite at the end of the window. Sean Dyche is a good coach for the Toffee’s and I believe he will keep them up, Everton will not want to play their first season in their new stadium in the championship.
16. Leicester City
The squad itself is not very strong and similar to Southampton, it is more or less the same from their previous season in the Premier League. I do not see Steve Cooper as a good coach compared to Enzo Maresca who the Fox’s let go to coach Chelsea. Along with their coach, Leicester let star player Kieren Desbury-Hall follow his manager to Chelsea, leaving the midfield weak with no squad depth. Despite all of this, I can see Leicester staying up at least this season, but they will need to make a lot of signings in the next summer window if they want to stay in the League.
15. Brentford
If Toney goes to Saudi Arabia, the Bees might slip farther down the table, for now, they are strong enough to stay up.
14. Fulham
Some good signings so far with Smith-Rowe and potentially Scott McTominay from Man United, however, the sale of João Palhinha and Tosin Adarabioyo will cost Marco Silva’s side a top-ten finish this season.
13. Wolves
I believe in Wolves but the squad itself, now that Pedro Neto is gone, is not strong enough to push for a higher finish this season. If Gary O’neil can bring in more players before the window closes, then I can see Wolves earning a spot in the top half of the table.
12. Newcastle
After the big-money takeover by Saudi Arabia, Newcastle continue to underwhelm. Another window goes by without Newcastle spending the big bucks and for that, I do not see them as the great entertainers this season. The potential signing of Marc Guehi may change my mind as that will drastically improve their defense, but in the attack, forward Alexander Isak is the only one who can consistently score, besides him, the Magpies have nothing.
11. Crystal Palace
What an end to the season for Palace; Oliver Glasner has proven himself to be a quality coach. Star forward Michael Olise has left to sign for Bayern Munich and while that will be a big lose, if the Eagles can keep Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, and Jean-Phillipe Mateta, I can see them finishing in a solid position.

10. Bournemouth
I was worried after they sold Solanke, but the signing of Evinilson is a statement of intent from the Cherries, I am not predicting a massive season for Bournemouth but a tenth-place finish would be impressive.
9. Brighton
Gone are the days of quality Brighton who compete for European places. For years we have seen stars leave Brighton for bigger clubs and that is starting to impact the Seagull’s season. The positives from this window are that key players such as Evan Ferguson, Pervis Estupinan, Kaoru Mitoma, and other quality players will seemingly remain at Brighton. This surely means the Seagulls can at least end in the top half of the table.
8. Chelsea
Chelsea had an amazing season last year: Cole Palmer took the league by storm, Pochettino was able to implement his tactics successfully and produced entertaining football, and the squad was able to connect for the first time since Thomas Tuchel arrived. So why did Todd Boehly decide to throw away all that great progress and hire Enzo Maresca, an inexperienced championship manager, and sign a majority of inexperienced teenage players who will not improve the squad? Manager roulette is a dangerous game that Chelsea continues to play, I see this season seems to be heading towards another rebuild that will affect the performances on the pitch.
7. West Ham

(Image via West Ham)
Good coach in Lopetegui, great signings, and the Hammers were able to hold onto key players in Bowen, Kudus, Paqueta, and Alvarez, European football will surely return to West Ham.
6. Aston Villa
Aston Villa earned a spot in this year's Champions League and while this is a huge step forward for the club, history tells us that the introduction of UCL football typically gets in the way of teams that never usually play in the competition, we saw this with Newcastle last season. Further, the sale of Douglas Luiz and replacing him with Amadou Onana who is a good player but not better the Luiz, will surely open up holes in the midfield. I am sure Villa will have a good season, but probably not what they are hoping for.
5. Tottenham
Spurs are solid, but the squad continues to lack a super striker to replace the shoes of Harry Kane, Solanke is good, but he is not Kane. Tottenham are missing a few solid defensive players to consider themselves a top-four side.
4. Liverpool
A new coach in Arne Slot after nine years of Jurgen Klopp means a potential slow start to the season. Another potential issue is the lack of signings this summer window, however, despite all this, Liverpool has a solid group of players and will get top four in my opinion.
3. Manchester United

(Image via BBC)
From nearly firing Erik Ten Hag, an eighth place in the Premier League last season, to the signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, and potentially a midfielder this summer shows that INEOS and Ten Hag mean business this season. I can see them finishing third only if players such as Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, and Rasmus Hojlund can stay fit.
2. Arsenal
Great squad that continues to get stronger and stronger, I would love to see Arsenal win the Premier League, Arteta and his men deserve it in my opinion, but Man City is just way too strong.
Manchester City

No explanation is needed, City are the juggernauts of the Premier League and until another team can match them, they will continue to win.
